Ellen Ochoa, "Why do I do It"

I do it because I got my doctoral student at Stanford, and later as a researcher at Sandia National Laboratories and NASA Ames Research Center, then I investigated optical system for performing information processing.
I am a co-inventor on three patents for an optical inspection system, an optical object recognition method, and a method for noise removal in images.Me as Chief of the Intelligent Systems Technology Branch at Ames, I supervised the 35 engineers scientists in the research and development of computational systems for aerospace missions. Then I had presented numerous papers at technical conferences and in scientific journals, and on January 1990 I was selected by NASA to became an astronaut and in July 1991 I became one ,and that's why I became an astronaut. I was also allot into school because of my mom who show me how to appreciate school. So I was always a great student who did all their work
